Third Grade's

Tweetheart of the Week

Third grade will be recognizing one student each week for the rest of the school year. Each student will have his/her special week to shine. Studies have shown that publicly recognizing students for their talents and uniqueness benefit their learning and support a positive and welcoming environment in the classroom! We are looking forward to seeing these benefits as we progress through the year.

Send your child’s completed “All About Me” poster back to school with them for the Tweetheart display. Your child’s classmates will write “tweets” to our Tweetheart sharing special memories and qualities we love about the Tweetheart.

Tuesday is talent day! Your child is invited to show off a special talent to the class.  hey may bring in an instrument to play (2 minute limit), share an artistic drawing, show off a special karate or dance move (safe and classroom appropriate), or even bring in a trophy or an object to represent their talent.  If your child's talent is hard to show "live" in the classroom, feel free to take a video and send it to us to show!

On Wednesday your child is invited to bring photographs in to help the class get to know them better! Please choose 5 of your child's favorite photos to share. Photographs can be can be of family, friends, hobbies, travels, extracurricular activities, etc.! (Photographs will be displayed and then returned after the week is over.)

You are invited to write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in the TOP SECRET envelope to school with your child. I will read the letter to the class at our class meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas:

  • Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear

  • Write a silly or serious poem about your child

  • Tell us some neat things we may not know about your child

  • Or write a short story with your child as the main character

Please do not let your child read this secret letter.  He/she should hear the letter for the first time at Thursday’s class meeting.

Your child may invite a special guest to eat lunch with him/her in the cafeteria from 11:15-11:40am. If you are unable to join your child for lunch due to your work schedule or a prior obligation, you can contact a special family member/friend to come in and join them (please let us know if this is the case!).
